What is the camp all about?

Art & Music Italia offers students from the US and Italy a unique educational experience. Located in the beautiful city of Santa Maria di Castellabate, on Italy's famed Amalfi coast, Art & Music Italia affords students a unique musical, art and cultural experience. When compared to other camps available to American high school students, Art & Music Italia truly stands alone in its offerings.


Who is the ideal candidate for this camp?

Any student who is interested in music (Classical, Jazz, Gospel, Pop, Rock, Contemporary) and/or art (painting, drawing, mixed media, assemblage, sculpture, land art) would thrive at Musica Vesuviana. However, Art & Music Italia's appeal goes beyond music and art training as it also provides students with an immersion in all things Italian: language, travel (Rome, Pompeii, Salerno, Paestum), fabulous seashore and amazing food! Finally, Art & Music Italia offers students the opportunity to meet and make music and art with students from other states and countries.


In what language will the classes be taught?

The classes will be taught in English. However, all students will immerse themselves in daily lessons of conversational Italian taught by a native instructor.


Are students going to have free time?

Students will have plenty of free time for jam‐sessions, sports activies at the Domus Cilento, swimming at the pool and/or at the beach, shopping and more. See student life for more information.

How is instruction organized?

MUSIC: Lessons are then customized to each student’s needs and goals. In addition to individual instruction, students will be placed in appropriate ensembles commensurate with their abilities and instrument families. Please see the music section for more specific information on all types of study.

ART: Welcomes students of all levels, from beginner to advanced. The curriculum will be designed to accommodate students’ indicated preferences and interests. Please see the visual arts section for more information on the full curriculum.

What are travel arrangements to, from and during the camp?

Since we are based in Massachusetts, we depart from Boston's Logan Airport where students are accompanied by the staff members. All flights (and other transportation during the camp) are included in the price. {Students who must leave from or return to another airport will make special arrangements with the director before flight plans are finalized}

Upon our arrival in Naples, we will be met by an air‐conditioned coach bus to transport us to the Fondazione Passarelli. The same coach will takes us on the sight-seeing and cultural excursion trips during the campl. At the end of the session students and staff fly back to Boston together unless other plans have been made in advance. Please see travel for more information.

Who are the teachers/supervisors?

What is the daily schedule?

Perhaps the essence of Art & Music Italia is the unique schedule, which is arranged to provide a balance between learning, socializing and local immersion. It is flexible in order to help students who need more ‘me time’ while challenging those who are more advanced.
